Processes » Condensate impoundment control » description of function and structure
An upright heat exchanger suitable for condensate impoundment control (baelz 105-S, baelz 106, baelz 111, baelz 147) is in the centre of the steam exchanger station.
Depending on the network conditions, the steam inlet side 01 contains a quick-acting steam valve or a valve with multiple functions (22). A corresponding valve (6) is used for control on the condensate outlet side 02. The adjustable variable is set by a controller fitted with a sensor (10) on the secondary side 04. Depending on the output required, the condensate valve releases a corresponding quantity of condensate through the steam pressure permanently pushing to 01. Thus, a different condensate level is achieved for the various output ranges, which means that an output is ensured which corresponds to the heating surface.
Usually, the condensate output temperature (depending on the heat exchanger and its design) will be approx. 5 K over the secondary inlet temperature 03 in all performance ranges.
